How to apply

1. Confirm you hold existing TEQSA registration as a higher education provider (TEQSA Act) or ASQA registration as a VET provider before proceeding — CRICOS registration cannot be sought first.
2. Review your obligations under the Education Services for Overseas Students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018.
3. Lodge a formal intention to apply by emailing the TEQSA CRICOS team at cricos@teqsa.gov.au; TEQSA will provide pre-application guidance.
4. Prepare all required evidence as specified in TEQSA's Confirmed Evidence Table (CET), including financial viability, governance, student support services, and course documentation.
5. Submit the completed application and all evidence through TEQSA's online provider portal (providers.teqsa.gov.au).
6. Pay the applicable application fee (fee schedule published at teqsa.gov.au/about-us/fees-and-charges/application-based-fees; discounts up to 70% apply to providers with EFTSL under 5,000).
7. Respond promptly to any requests from TEQSA for additional information during the 3–6 month assessment period.
8. Upon approval, receive your CRICOS code (issued within 2–4 weeks of the decision) and appear on the public CRICOS register at cricos.teqsa.gov.au.
9. Register each course you intend to offer to international students on the CRICOS register as a separate step after provider registration is confirmed.
