Why we built FormFinder
FormFinder started with a phone call. A mate in Queensland rang, straight out of court, and said: “wouldn’t it be great if there was an app on your phone that gave you the specific laws and forms you need for this?”
The answer was “I’m on it.” That’s genuinely how this started — no market research, no pitch deck, just someone who’d been through it saying the obvious thing out loud.
He wasn’t wrong, either. It’s not a unique story — it’s the default Australian government experience. Forms designed in 1998. Interfaces written by people who’ve never had to use them. Multiple agencies asking for the same information, none of them talking to each other. And underneath all of it, the same question every time: which form do I actually need?
The forms themselves we can’t change — but how you find and understand them, we absolutely can. Describe your situation, get the exact verified form with its official source attached. Plain-English explainers instead of legalese. A council reporter that keeps going when the council goes quiet. A wallet that watches your licence and Medicare expiries so a renewal never sneaks up on you. That’s the whole pitch.
What we won't do
Sell your data. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
Keep what you say to the search. Voice input, scanned documents, and Situation Finder queries are processed for that one request and not kept. The only exception: a search that doesn't match any form is kept — with no identity attached — so we can add the missing form to the catalogue.
Charge for access to your own documents. Your wallet is yours, exportable any time.
Pretend to be government. We help you talk to government. We're a separate Australian company.
Add dark patterns. No fake urgency, no confused cancellation flows, no hidden fees.
