How to apply

1. Check eligibility at trb.tas.gov.au/joining-the-profession/ — you must hold an approved teaching qualification and meet character/fitness requirements.
2. Obtain a current Registration to Work With Vulnerable People (RWVP) from the Tasmanian Department of Justice — you will need your RWVP number and expiry date.
3. Gather supporting documents: proof of identity (including name change documents if applicable), academic transcripts or My eQuals digital certificate, and English language proficiency evidence if required.
4. Go to TRB Online at trbonline.trb.tas.gov.au and select 'Sign Up' to create an account; login credentials are sent to your email.
5. Log in and follow the prompts to complete the online application form, entering your RWVP details, qualifications, and personal information.
6. Pay the application fee online — for a new 1-year registration the total is $181.66 (comprising a once-off $63.43 application fee plus $118.23 annual registration fee for 2025–26); multi-year options up to 5 years are available.
7. Submit the application; processing takes approximately 10 business days (up to 4 weeks).
8. Receive email confirmation of successful registration and access your registration certificate via your TRB Online account.
9. Renew registration each year (or at your chosen period) through TRB Online before expiry on 31 December of the registration year.
