How to apply

1. Choose your state authority's personalised plates portal: NSW — myplates.com.au; VIC — vplates.com.au; QLD — ppq.com.au; SA — ezyplates.sa.gov.au; WA — transport.wa.gov.au; TAS — service.tas.gov.au; ACT — accesscanberra.act.gov.au; NT — nt.gov.au/driving
2. Search for your desired plate combination to confirm availability and check style/character restrictions for your jurisdiction
3. Select plate style and size (standard, slimline, motorcycle, etc.) and add to order
4. Complete the online order form or download and complete the paper application form (e.g. VIC 'Custom Plate Application and Agreement'; QLD Form F2964 for attach/remove)
5. Provide vehicle registration details and proof of identity if required
6. Pay the order fee online or in person at a service centre (prices vary significantly by state and style; typically $100–$500+ for a new personalised plate combination)
7. Once plates are produced (typically 2–4 weeks), collect from a service centre or receive by mail, then attach to your vehicle
8. If transferring plates to a new vehicle, complete the relevant transfer or attach/remove form (e.g. QLD F2964; VIC VicRoads transfer process) and update registration records
