How to apply

1. Confirm eligibility: you must currently hold, or have held, a Subclass 491 or Subclass 494 visa and have lived in a designated regional area for at least three years while holding that provisional visa.
2. Gather evidence of three years of regional residence: lease agreements, utility bills, local council rates notices, or a statutory declaration supported by corroborating documents.
3. Gather evidence of regional employment: payslips, tax assessments, employer letters, and evidence of meeting any applicable income threshold during the qualifying period.
4. Create or log in to your ImmiAccount at immi.homeaffairs.gov.au and select the Subclass 191 application.
5. Complete the online application form, adding any family members you wish to include on the grant.
6. Upload all supporting documents: identity documents, regional residence evidence, employment evidence, and health and character documents for all applicants.
7. Pay the visa application charge (approximately AUD $475 for the primary applicant; additional charges for secondary adult and child applicants) within ImmiAccount.
8. Attend any requested medical examinations and provide police clearance certificates if required.
9. Monitor ImmiAccount for any requests for further information and await the visa decision — processing times typically range from 3 to 12 months.
