How to apply

  1. Confirm your nominated occupation is on the ACS-assessed ICT, Data Science, or Cyber Security occupation list and obtain its ANZSCO code from acs.org.au/msa/information-for-applicants/occupations-anzsco-codes.html
  2. Choose the correct assessment pathway: General Skills (ICT degree + experience), RPL (experience only, no tertiary qualification), Post-Australian Study (Australian bachelor's degree + 1 year AU work experience or Professional Year), or Qualification Only (Australian diploma/associate degree)
  3. Gather required documents — proof of identity, certified copies of academic transcripts and degree certificates, employment reference letters or statutory declarations for work experience, and (for RPL) two project reports and professional currency evidence
  4. Create an account and lodge the application through the ACS Migration Skills Assessment online applicant portal at the ACS website
  5. Pay the applicable assessment fee via Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or PayPal — General Skills pathway: AUD $1,498 (excl. GST); RPL and Temporary Graduate pathways: AUD $625 (excl. GST); Post-Australian Study pathway: AUD $1,136 (excl. GST) (fees effective November 2025)
  6. If your visa deadline is fewer than 12 weeks away and you need an expedited result, request priority processing (requires at least 2 weeks' notice of the deadline)
  7. Await assessment outcome — standard processing is 4–6 weeks for straightforward applications with no requests for additional documentation
  8. If the outcome is unfavourable, lodge a Level 1 Appeal (AUD $516 excl. GST) or Level 2 Appeal (AUD $620 excl. GST) within the timeframe specified in your outcome letter
  9. Attach the ACS skills assessment outcome letter to your skilled visa application (e.g., Subclass 189, 190, 491, 482) submitted via ImmiAccount
