How to apply

  1. Submit your visa application via ImmiAccount and pay the Visa Application Charge (VAC).
  2. Wait to receive the Department of Home Affairs 's114 Requirement to Provide PIDs' letter containing your VLN (Visa Lodgement Number) or HAP ID — this triggers the biometric requirement.
  3. Note the 14-day deadline stated in the requirement letter — you must book and attend within this window.
  4. Visit your country's designated VFS Global (or TLScontact) website and create an appointment profile using the VLN or HAP ID from the letter.
  5. Select a convenient Australian Biometric Collection Centre (ABCC) date and time, then pay the local service fee (AUD 40–80 equivalent) to the provider.
  6. Attend the ABCC at least 15 minutes early, bringing: your original current passport (no copies), a printed copy of the requirement letter, your appointment confirmation email, and payment if not already paid online.
  7. Undergo the biometric capture: a digital facial photograph and a 10-fingerprint electronic scan (four right, four left, both thumbs); children under 5 are fingerprint-exempt.
  8. The ABCC transmits your data to the Department of Home Affairs via encrypted software — your ImmiAccount status updates automatically to confirm the requirement has been met.
  9. If you are under 16, a parent or guardian must accompany you; if you cannot attend within 14 days, contact the Department of Home Affairs to request an extension before the deadline lapses.
