Deadline

How to apply
- Check your licence expiry date — most states send a renewal reminder notice by mail or email within 56 days of expiry; you can also renew up to 6 weeks before expiry in QLD and similar windows in other states
- Confirm online eligibility: you must meet eyesight standards, have no enforcement restrictions, hold an eligible licence class, and have current medical records on file with your state transport authority
- For online renewal (NSW): log in or create a MyServiceNSW Account, select 'Renew or upgrade licence', follow the prompts, pay the licence fee, and download your Digital Driver Licence immediately; physical card arrives within 15 business days
- For online renewal (VIC): log in to your myVicRoads account, select renew, confirm your details, and pay; alternatively renew by phone on 1300 554 853
- For online renewal (QLD): visit service.transport.qld.gov.au/driverlicencerenewal, verify your details, answer health eligibility questions, select renewal term, and pay by Visa/credit/debit card
- If not eligible for online renewal (e.g. wanting a 10-year licence in NSW, needing a new photo, or having a combined driver/boat licence), download the Licence Renewal Application form or Form 1001 from your state website and visit a service centre in person
- At the service centre, present your expiring licence, proof of identity if required, any medical fitness reports, and payment
- If your licence has already expired, check whether your state allows a grace period (some states allow renewal up to 5 years after expiry with a fee penalty)
