How to apply
- Download the current Casual Employment Information Statement (CEIS) from the Fair Work Ombudsman website (last updated July 2025).
- Provide the CEIS to every new casual employee before they start or as soon as possible after commencement — alongside the Fair Work Information Statement (FWIS).
- For non-small business employers (15+ employees): reissue the CEIS at 6 months of employment, again at 12 months, and then every 12 months while employment continues.
- For small business employers (fewer than 15 employees): reissue the CEIS once the casual employee reaches 12 months of employment.
- Deliver the statement in person, by email, by email link to the FWO website, by mail, or by fax.
- Retain records of each time the CEIS was provided to each casual employee in case of an audit.
- Note that the CEIS explains the employee's right to notify you of an intention to convert to permanent employment and the grounds on which you may decline.
- Failure to provide the CEIS at any required trigger point can attract penalties of up to $93,900 per breach.
