How to apply
- Receive an AoS invitation letter from the Department of Home Affairs confirming an AoS is required for the visa application
- Check eligibility and obligations using the Services Australia AoS calculator, then gather identity documents, tax returns, payslips, and your Centrelink Reference Number (CRN)
- Submit the AoS application via myGov linked to Centrelink, or in person at a Services Australia service centre using form SU594
- Attend a phone interview with Services Australia to confirm you understand your financial obligations as assurer
- Receive the bank guarantee invitation letter from Services Australia specifying the exact bond amount and assurance period
- Lodge the refundable bank guarantee at a Commonwealth Bank branch, paying the $150 establishment fee; the bond is $10,000 for a 10-year individual AoS (single assuree) or $5,000 for a 2-year AoS
- Submit the bank guarantee certificate and supporting documents back to Services Australia
- Receive the AoS approval letter from Services Australia and forward it to the Department of Home Affairs to satisfy the visa condition
- At end of the AoS period, contact your nearest Centrelink office to release the bond funds (less any recovered Centrelink payments)
