Wind Turbine Technician / Wind-Industry Electrician — GWO Safety Training

To work as an electrician on wind turbines or wind farms in Australia you first need a current state electrical licence (such as an A-grade licence), then the wind industry's own safety 'passport': GWO Basic Safety Training (BST). BST is the entry-level requirement and covers Working at Heights, Manual Handling, Fire Awareness and First Aid (plus Sea Survival for offshore work) over about four days. GWO Advanced Rescue Training (ART) is a separate, advanced add-on for experienced technicians who perform tower rescues — it is NOT an entry requirement, so don't let it confuse you. Most Australian wind developers and operators are GWO members and accept these certificates; electricians are usually also asked to hold high-voltage switching/authorisation before going on site.
