Deadline
Typically: before the exam or within 2–3 business days after the affected assessment (varies by university)
How to apply
- Determine whether your circumstances qualify — accepted grounds include serious illness or injury, death of a close family member, significant trauma, or other sudden unavoidable events that directly impacted your exam or assessment
- Gather supporting evidence before applying — typically a medical certificate from an AHPRA-registered practitioner, a student declaration form describing the circumstances, or official letters (employer, spiritual leader, etc.) depending on your situation
- Log in to your university's student portal (e.g. Sydney Student, MyANU, QUT HiQ, StudentConnect) and navigate to the Special Consideration or Deferred Exam application section
- Complete and submit the online application form — include your student ID, affected assessment details, and upload supporting documentation
- Submit by the required deadline — most universities require submission before the exam or no later than 2–3 working days after the affected assessment
- Await outcome notification — typically sent to your university email within 5–10 working days
- If approved, complete the deferred exam or alternative assessment in the scheduled deferred exam period or as directed by your faculty
