How to apply

1. Lodge a workers compensation claim with WorkCover Queensland following a work-related injury or illness — the plan is created automatically once the claim is accepted.
2. WorkCover Queensland initiates the My Recovery Plan within 10 business days of claim acceptance, in consultation with you, your employer, and your treating health provider.
3. Contribute to the plan by discussing your recovery goals, current capacity for work, any restrictions from your treating doctor, and your pre-injury duties with your claims manager.
4. Review the My Recovery Plan once shared via email — check that goals, duties, hours, and responsibilities are accurately recorded for all parties.
5. Provide feedback or raise any concerns about the plan's content with your WorkCover claims manager within the consultation period.
6. Employer implements the plan by providing suitable duties or modified hours consistent with the treating doctor's Certificate of Capacity.
7. Track plan updates — WorkCover must update the plan within 5 business days of any change in recovery direction, timeframe, or rehabilitation goal.
8. Access your plan at any time via the WorkCover Worker Assist app or by contacting your claims manager directly.
