QLD Sex Work Business — Post-2024 Decriminalisation

QLD

The Criminal Code (Decriminalising Sex Work) and Other Legislation Amendment Act 2024, which commenced 2 August 2024, decriminalised sex work in Queensland and abolished the Prostitution Licensing Authority — there is no sex work specific regulator or licensing system for sex work businesses. Sex work businesses are being moved onto standard business regulation — local council planning, WorkSafe, fair trading and ATO — without a sex-industry-specific licence. Transition arrangements are still in motion in 2026; check current guidance before opening.
