How to apply

  1. Confirm the work is notifiable: in NSW, any work requiring an inspection (Sydney, Illawarra, Blue Mountains, Newcastle/Hunter); in QLD, most residential renovation plumbing but not new-construction permit work.
  2. NSW: Complete the Combined Notice of Work & Certificate of Compliance form (available from NSW Fair Trading / BCNSW) and lodge via the MyInspections Gateway at least 20 days before work begins.
  3. QLD: Log into the myQBCC portal, select the Plumbing tab, choose 'Register notifiable work — Form 4/4a', or download Form 4 (private) / Form 4a (public sector) from qbcc.qld.gov.au.
  4. NSW: Obtain any required council, Sydney Water or Hunter Water approvals before commencing.
  5. QLD: Complete all required fields including an as-constructed diagram for any underground sanitary drainage work.
  6. NSW: Notify the inspection authority within 2 days of completing the work so an inspection can be arranged.
  7. QLD: Submit and pay the registration fee (online $35.67; manual $48.17) within 10 business days of issuing the invoice for the work.
  8. NSW: On passing inspection, receive the Certificate of Compliance and provide it to the property owner. QLD: Provide a copy of the Form 4 to the property owner/occupier within 20 business days of registration.
