How to apply

  1. Determine whether the installation is standard or complex: VIC — standard = domestic/light commercial Class 1-10 premises meeting defined pressure/supply/storey limits (per GIS 33); complex = higher-risk installations requiring ESV Application for Acceptance via GasTrac before commencing.
  2. VIC standard: Complete the gas installation, then log into VBA360 (vba360.vba.vic.gov.au), purchase a BPC Compliance Certificate, enter site address and work details, and lodge within 5 days of completion.
  3. VIC complex: Obtain ESV acceptance before commissioning via GasTrac, then upon completion lodge the Statement of Compliance (Schedule 11) with Energy Safe Victoria.
  4. NSW: After completing gasfitting work on a networked gas installation, lodge a Certificate of Compliance (or Certificate of Inspection for non-networked/LPG) via the mandatory BCNSW eCert portal (eCert.bcnsw.com.au) within 5 business days — emailed PDFs are no longer accepted as of 1 March 2026.
  5. QLD: After completing the gas installation, issue a Gas System Compliance Certificate through the RSHQ Portal (rshq.qld.gov.au) — mandatory from 3 February 2026; hard-copy certificate books are no longer valid as of 1 January 2026.
  6. Provide the property owner/occupier with a copy of the certificate.
  7. Retain your copy for at least 5 years.
  8. Check with your network operator (e.g., Jemena, ATCO Gas) for any additional notification requirements specific to gas network connections.
