Australia is transitioning sheep and goats from visual mob-based tags to individual electronic identification (eID) by 1 January 2027 (with state phase-in dates from 1 January 2025). Every sheep / farmed goat born on or after the state phase-in date must wear an accredited NLIS (Sheep & Goats) eID tag.
