How to apply

  1. Confirm the participant's behaviour support plan (including the regulated restrictive practice) has been lodged and activated in the NDIS Commission Portal by a registered behaviour support practitioner.
  2. Obtain written authorisation to use the regulated restrictive practice from the relevant state or territory body (e.g. VCAT in Victoria, NCAT in NSW, Guardianship Tribunal in other states).
  3. Log in to the NDIS Commission Portal using your PRODA credentials.
  4. Navigate to the participant's active behaviour support plan and open the 'Schedule of Restrictive Practices' tab.
  5. Upload the evidence of authorisation and update the 'Have authorisation and consent been received?' field to 'Yes' once evidence is uploaded.
  6. Each calendar month, complete the monthly reporting section for all regulated restrictive practices listed in the plan — including months where a practice was not used (report as 'not used').
  7. Submit the monthly report within 5 business days of the end of each month.
  8. If a restrictive practice is used without authorisation, report it as a reportable incident to the NDIS Commission within 5 business days of becoming aware of the incident.
