A Mobility Parking Permit (also called the National Mobility Parking Scheme or Australian Disability Parking Scheme permit) is issued by each state's transport authority to people with severely restricted mobility, allowing use of disabled parking bays nationally and internationally in participating countries.

How to apply
- Confirm eligibility: you must have a permanent or temporary condition that severely restricts your ability to walk (e.g. cannot walk 100m without stopping, requires mobility aids, is permanently blind, or uses a wheelchair)
- Obtain the relevant state application form: NSW — Form 1150 from service.nsw.gov.au; VIC — VicRoads MPS form; QLD — TMR form; other states from their respective transport authority
- Complete Section 1 of the form yourself (personal and vehicle details)
- Have your treating doctor or specialist complete Section 2 (medical certification) and, if still driving, Section 3
- Gather proof of identity documents (2 forms required in most states)
- Submit application: online via MyServiceNSW (NSW, if TfNSW holds your photo on file); or in person at your state's service centre (Service NSW, VicRoads, TMR, etc.)
- Pay the applicable fee (many states issue permits free or for a small admin fee — e.g. NSW is free for eligible applicants)
- Permit is posted within approx. 15 business days; valid for 5 years (individual/permanent) or up to 6 months (temporary)
- Permit is recognised in all Australian states/territories and many international jurisdictions under NMPS reciprocal arrangements
