How to apply

  1. Ensure you are registered as a specialist behaviour support provider with the NDIS Commission (requires PRODA account and Commission Portal access).
  2. Engage with the NDIS participant and develop an interim behaviour support plan within 1 month of engagement.
  3. Develop a comprehensive behaviour support plan within 6 months of engagement, identifying any regulated restrictive practices and how they will be reduced and eliminated.
  4. Log in to the NDIS Commission Portal (portal.ndiscommission.gov.au) using your PRODA credentials.
  5. Create a new plan record in the Portal, entering participant details and plan content — the Behaviour Support Practitioner Admin can complete preparatory steps but the registered practitioner must click 'Send draft' to finalise lodgement.
  6. Lodge the plan as soon as practicable after finalisation — the Commission defines this as approximately two weeks from the date the practitioner finalises the plan.
  7. The implementing provider then activates the plan in the Portal and uploads evidence of state/territory authorisation for any regulated restrictive practices.
  8. The implementing provider completes monthly reports on the use of regulated restrictive practices via the Portal within 5 business days of month end.
  9. Any unauthorised restrictive practices must be reported to the Commission as a reportable incident within 5 business days of the provider becoming aware.
