In Victoria, a Section 51 Take and Use Licence under the Water Act 1989 authorises taking water from a river, dam or bore for irrigation, commercial, dairy or industrial purposes. The relevant rural water corporation (GMW, SRW or LMW depending on region) is the licensing authority.
