Specialist registration as an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon — the speciality covering surgery of the mouth, jaws, face and neck. Unique among dental specialities: most Australian OMS practitioners hold dual qualifications (dentistry + medicine) and the training pathway is run by the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons (RACDS) rather than a university DClinDent. RANZCO/RACS Fellowship is also required for hospital privileges in many jurisdictions.
