Salon Owner — Australian Hair Industry Association Code & Award Compliance
Salon owners must comply with the Hair and Beauty Industry Award 2020 (Fair Work) for all employees plus the work-health-and-safety regulations of their state. Industry-recognised codes (Hair Stylists Australia Code of Professional Practice, Australian Hairdressing Council member code) are voluntary but adopted by most reputable salons. The Award covers minimum rates, junior rates, apprentice rates, allowances (chemical, tool), penalty rates and overtime.
