Solarium / Commercial UV Tanning Bed — Commercial Use Ban

Commercial solarium / UV tanning bed services have been BANNED in Australia since 1 January 2015 (NSW, VIC, SA, TAS, ACT, QLD, WA all prohibited from this date; the NT followed shortly after). It is unlawful to operate a commercial solarium offering UV tanning to the public anywhere in Australia. The ban followed the WHO IARC Group 1 carcinogen classification of UV-emitting tanning devices and the Clare Oliver campaign. Private (residential) ownership of a tanning bed is not banned but importing a commercial-rated unit is restricted.
