The NSW Children's Court Care and Protection List hears applications by Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) for care orders — when a child is at risk and needs to be removed, or is already in care and needs ongoing supervision. Parents and children can also seek leave to bring applications (e.g. to vary contact, restore the child).
