Enduring Power of Attorney for Aged-Care Decisions
Before entering aged care, most older Australians appoint an enduring power of attorney and plan who will make medical decisions for them if they can't. The legal forms differ in every state — and so do the rules about what an EPOA covers. In Victoria, an enduring power of attorney covers financial matters and/or personal matters, but personal matters do NOT include medical treatment — you must separately appoint a medical treatment decision maker.
