ACRRM Fellowship (FACRRM) — Rural Generalist Training Pathway

The Fellowship of ACRRM (FACRRM) is the specialist training program that qualifies a doctor as a Rural Generalist — a GP with extended skills (such as emergency, obstetrics or anaesthetics) able to work autonomously in rural and remote communities. It is a four-year full-time program made up of three years of Core Generalist Training plus at least 12 months of Advanced Specialised Training (AST) in a chosen discipline. Attaining FACRRM leads to specialist registration with the Medical Board of Australia. Since rural generalist medicine was recognised as a new field of specialty practice in September 2025, Fellows can also seek the protected 'Specialist Rural Generalist' title on their AHPRA registration.
