TGA Cosmetic Injectables — Registered Nurse Pathway (AHPRA NMBA)

Registered nurses (Division 1) may administer cosmetic injectables (botulinum toxin, dermal fillers, biostimulators) under a prescribing relationship with an AHPRA-registered medical practitioner. The model has been heavily reformed — the TGA cosmetic injectables reforms (Sept 2023, expanded Feb 2024 and Oct 2024) and the Medical Board cosmetic guidelines (effective 2 September 2025) prohibit telehealth-only prescribing, mandate real-time clinical consultation by the prescriber before each prescription, and tighten S4 advertising. Enrolled nurses (Division 2) and beauty therapists CANNOT administer cosmetic injectables.
