Section 60I Certificate — Family Dispute Resolution (Mediation)
For any parenting dispute you must attempt Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) and obtain a Section 60I Certificate before filing in court. Exemptions exist for family violence, child abuse, urgency, and incapacity. Centre-based mediation is heavily subsidised — Family Relationship Centres charge means-tested fees, often free.
