NSW Death Certificate Application

NSW

You apply to NSW BDM for an official death certificate. The funeral director normally registers the death within 7 days, then an eligible person - the spouse or de facto partner, a parent or child named on the certificate, the executor, or the solicitor for the estate - can buy the certificate. You need a death certificate to close bank accounts, claim insurance, manage super, transfer property and apply for probate.
