NSW Birth Registration
You must register your baby's birth with NSW Births Deaths and Marriages within 60 days of the birth. Registration is free; a birth certificate copy is a separate paid order. The hospital gives you a Birth Registration Statement (BRS) pack at discharge — complete and return it to BDM. Without registration your child cannot get a passport, Medicare card in their own name, or be enrolled in school.
