Health Fund Recognition for Massage Therapists (AMT / MMA / ATMS / ANTA)
There is no government-administered registration scheme for massage therapists in Australia (unlike physiotherapy or osteopathy). Health-fund "extras" rebates for remedial massage are administered through industry-association membership — practitioners must hold HLT52021 Diploma of Remedial Massage (form 1433) and be a current member of an association recognised by the relevant fund. Bupa, Medibank, HCF and NIB each maintain their own list of recognised providers; rebate eligibility varies fund-by-fund.
