How to apply

  1. Obtain your supporting document: Australian marriage/divorce certificate, BDM change-of-name certificate, deed poll, or proof of new residential address (utility bill, bank statement).
  2. NSW — address: update online via MyServiceNSW account or visit a Service NSW centre; name change requires in-person visit to a Service NSW centre within 14 days.
  3. VIC — address: update online at vicroads.vic.gov.au or via myVicRoads app (sticker mailed within 7 days); name change: download Change of Personal Details form, attend a VicRoads Customer Service Centre with original documents and have new photo taken.
  4. QLD — address: update online via the Queensland Government portal (qld.gov.au) or visit a Transport and Main Roads customer centre; name change requires in-person visit with supporting identity documents.
  5. WA — address: update via DoTDirect online or complete Form C4 and mail/deliver to a Driver and Vehicle Services centre (no fee; sticker mailed); name change: attend a DTMI service centre with original identity documents.
  6. SA — notify the Registrar of Motor Vehicles within 14 days via Service SA online portal, phone or in-person at a Service SA centre.
  7. NT — address: update via MVR Quick Pay, NT Rego app, phone (1300 654 628), or email mvr@nt.gov.au; name change requires attending an MVR office with BDM change-of-name certificate and identity documents.
  8. Pay any applicable replacement licence card fee (varies by state; address-only updates are typically free; name-change replacement cards range from ~$17–$36).
  9. Receive your updated licence card or address sticker by mail (allow 7–14 days).
