AS/NZS 4671 governs reinforcing steel (rebar) for concrete construction — including the limited tack welding allowed on Class L (low ductility) and Class N (normal) bars. Important: NOT all rebar is weldable — only bars marked 500N+ welded grades or 500W weldable grades can be tack welded. A specialist qualification needed by precast yards and bar fabricators.
