In Victoria, the Cemeteries and Crematoria Act 2003 (VIC) requires an Application for Cremation (signed by senior next-of-kin), a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death, and (where required) a Coroner's Order before cremation can proceed. Funeral directors lodge the paperwork with the cemetery trust.
